Also, as Windows PowerShell is a very powerful tool, the session will detail in a production environment those areas that should be considered by Technical Architects or those involved in SharePoint Governance. No previous experience of Windows PowerShell is necessary to attend this session.

SharePoint 2010 delivers compelling new infrastructure features for those wishing to host multiple customers on a shared platform whilst retaining confidentiality, integrity and availability. This session will cover how multi-tenancy can benefit all sizes of deployment from a basic farm to the largest such as SharePoint Online. Learn how to approach the design of a multi-tenant deployment and to configure and operate multi-tenant infrastructure, create Member Sites, Subscriptions, Feature Packs, and Service Application Partitions. Related features such as Host Named Site Collections and Claims Identity will also be covered. This session will be split 50/50 between lecture and demonstrations.

In this presentation we will explore the various methods available for automated solution packaging and deployment in a development environment. In addition, we will also take a deep dive into the process of extending the out of the box features of Visual Studio to create customized deployment configurations, including SharePoint commands, deployment steps, and Visual Studio Extensibility (VSIX) packages.

DD106 - Business Connectivity Services in SharePoint 2010. Nick Swan
After our introduction session to the Business Connectivity Services this session will be a deep dive into building custom solutions around the BCS. We'll show how to use the Visual Studio tooling to create a custom .Net assembly connector to your external data source, why you would want to do this, and what you need to bear in mind when you are building connectors for SharePoint server and the office clients.
Then we will cover how to build custom solutions using the BCS object model both in terms of getting and displaying data, and also helping you to administer your BCS application. The real power of the BCS to developers is being able to query many different data sources using only one API. We'll see how this can really improve your productivity and ability to deliver great solutions quickly.
We'll cover what you as developers need to consider in terms of performance - and how you can put your administrators concerns about data integration to rest.

Whilst coverage of the Claims Based Identity infrastructure will be included, the focus is primarily on Authentication (User Sign In). Learn about the key components for leveraging Claims Based Authentication, the various shapes and sizes of Claims Providers and their required configuration. See the new Forms Based Authentication and Multi Authentication Mode in action. Learn how to design your Authentication approach and there could even be a Kerberos related surprise included! We will be looking at how the BCS Model is configured to use the .Net Assembly as well as how to write your method signatures. Once we have configured our methods we can see how to add filters, data transformations as well as creating mash-ups using different External Systems.

I will attempt to install this from scratch on a virtual machine as we go, also discussing potential pitfalls and comparisons with setting this up on previous versions of SharePoint and SSRS.
