DD102 - PowerShell for SharePoint 2010. Penny Coventry

SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Server 2010 now contains native support for Windows PowerShell with the SharePoint 2010 Management Shell. This session explores the SharePoint 2010 Management Shell and how Windows PowerShell makes accomplishing SharePoint 2010 administrative tasks easy. Also, as Windows PowerShell is a very powerful tool, the session will detail in a production environment those areas that should be considered by Technical Architects or those involved in SharePoint Governance. No previous experience of Windows PowerShell is necessary to attend this session.

DD103 - Multi Tenancy in SharePoint 2010. Spencer Harbar

SharePoint 2010 delivers compelling new infrastructure features for those wishing to host multiple customers on a shared platform whilst retaining confidentiality, integrity and availability. This session will cover how multi-tenancy can benefit all sizes of deployment from a basic farm to the largest such as SharePoint Online. Learn how to approach the design of a multi-tenant deployment and to configure and operate multi-tenant infrastructure, create Member Sites, Subscriptions, Feature Packs, and Service Application Partitions. Related features such as Host Named Site Collections and Claims Identity will also be covered. This session will be split 50/50 between lecture and demonstrations.

DD104 - Customizing the Visual Studio 2010 SharePoint Deployment Process. Eric Shupps

One of the most exciting new features in Visual Studio 2010 is the built-in support for building custom SharePoint 2010 solutions. In this presentation we will explore the various methods available for automated solution packaging and deployment in a development environment. In addition, we will also take a deep dive into the process of extending the out of the box features of Visual Studio to create customized deployment configurations, including SharePoint commands, deployment steps, and Visual Studio Extensibility (VSIX) packages.

DD106 - Business Connectivity Services in SharePoint 2010. Nick Swan

After our introduction session to the Business Connectivity Services this session will be a deep dive into building custom solutions around the BCS. We'll show how to use the Visual Studio tooling to create a custom .Net assembly connector to your external data source, why you would want to do this, and what you need to bear in mind when you are building connectors for SharePoint server and the office clients.
Then we will cover how to build custom solutions using the BCS object model both in terms of getting and displaying data, and also helping you to administer your BCS application. The real power of the BCS to developers is being able to query many different data sources using only one API. We'll see how this can really improve your productivity and ability to deliver great solutions quickly.
We'll cover what you as developers need to consider in terms of performance - and how you can put your administrators concerns about data integration to rest.

Defining a successful unit testing strategy is a key component in the SharePoint software development lifecycle. In this session we will explore the various options for insuring adequate code coverage for custom SharePoint solutions, examine several different methods and tools for creating and executing unit tests, and discover tips and tricks for working with various test frameworks. There will also be a lively discussion regarding the value of implementing methodologies such as Test Driven Development and numerous real-world examples of the benefits unit testing can provide within custom SharePoint solutions

DD108 - (Change) Claims based Authentication in SharePoint 2010. Spencer Harbar

This session covers the new Claims Based Authentication support in SharePoint 2010. Whilst coverage of the Claims Based Identity infrastructure will be included, the focus is primarily on Authentication (User Sign In). Learn about the key components for leveraging Claims Based Authentication, the various shapes and sizes of Claims Providers and their required configuration. See the new Forms Based Authentication and Multi Authentication Mode in action. Learn how to design your Authentication approach and there could even be a Kerberos related surprise included! This session will be split 65/35 between lecture and demonstrations.

DD110 - (New) BCS .Net Assembly Deep Dive Phill Duffy

A deep dive into using .Net Assemblies for accessing External Systems, the talk will cover the 5 main methods for interacting with your data. We will be looking at how the BCS Model is configured to use the .Net Assembly as well as how to write your method signatures. Once we have configured our methods we can see how to add filters, data transformations as well as creating mash-ups using different External Systems.

In this session I will be breaking down the steps involved when configuring SharePoint 2010 and SSRS 2008 R2 in Integrated Mode complete with the click once install of Report Builder 3.0. I will attempt to install this from scratch on a virtual machine as we go, also discussing potential pitfalls and comparisons with setting this up on previous versions of SharePoint and SSRS.
